James and Phil Younghusband

James Joseph Placer "James" Younghusband (born 4 September 1986) is an English–Filipino footballer who plays as right winger. He has been unattached since 2008 but continues to be involved with the Philippines national team.

Younghusband was born in Ashford, Middlesex, England.

Younghusband's career began when he signed for Chelsea in 1996 and signed a scholarship with them at the age of 10. While with Chelsea he made a number of appearances for the youth and reserve team.

Early in 2005, the Philippine Football Federation was alerted to Younghusband's eligibility by a mysterious gamer who allegedly found out about their lineage via the Football Manager series. Philip James Placer "Phil" Younghusband  (born 4 August 1987) is an English–Filipino footballer who plays as a forward. He spent two years unattached between 2008 and 2010 after being released by Chelsea but he continues to be involved with the Philippines national team.

Younghusband was born in Ashford, Middlesex, England and the son of English Philip James Younghusband and Filipino Susan Placer. His brotherJames Younghusband also plays for The Philippines National Team.

              He plays as a striker and turned professional in March 2005, having been at Chelsea since the age of nine. Younghusband was the youth team's top scorer in the 2003–04 season and made his first reserve start in November 2004. In the 2004–05 he was the youth team's top scorer. In the 2005–06 season, Younghusband made 21 appearances for the Chelsea reserve team, including 18 starts, and scored five goals. He also made one appearance as a substitute for the Chelsea youth team.

On 30 August 2007, Younghusband signed a contract with Danish top-league club Esbjerg fB, going on loan with the Danes for the rest of the 2007–08 season but he returned to Chelsea during the January transfer window. During his time playing in the Chelsea reserves team, he scored 9 goals in 41 apps for two seasons.

In the summer of 2008, his contract with Chelsea ended and he moved to the Philippines.

              He played for the Philippines Under-23 national squad in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games. Younghusband scored two goals in the Philippines 4–2 loss to Malaysia. He was part of the seniorsPhilippine national team. Younghusband participated in the ASEAN Football Championship and scored 6 goals in 4 appearances and ended up top scorer in the qualifiers.

         Allan Pineda Lindo Jr., (born November 28, 1974) better known by his stage name apl.de.ap, is a rapper and record producer and is best known as a member of the The Black Eyed Peas.

Early Life

           Apl.de.ap was born in Sapang Bato, Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines, to a Filipino mother and an African American father. His father, a U.S. airman stationed at Clark Air Base, abandoned the family shortly after his birth; his mother, Cristina Pineda, raised him and his six younger siblings as a single mother. Two of his siblings are deceased: his younger brother Arnel committed suicide (this is referenced in The Apl Song in the lines "I guess sometimes life's stresses get you down/Oh brother, wish I could have helped you out"). His youngest brother, Joven Pineda Deala, was murdered at the age of 22 in February 2009 in Porac, Pampanga.

As a child, apl.de.ap would make an hour-long jeepney trip to and from school, and helped his family subsist by farming sweet potatoes, corn, sugar cane and rice.The Pearl S. Buck Foundation, an organization that finds healthier living environments for young abandoned or orphaned Amerasian children, matched him with a sponsor named Joe Ben Hudgens through a dollar-a-day program. He initially came to the United States at the age of 11 to treat nystagmus, an involuntary movement of the eyes. During a trip to Disneyland, Apl expressed his interest in staying in the United States. It would take another three years for Hudgens to officially adopt him, but at fourteen he moved permanently to the United States to live with Hudgens.

         In Los Angeles, he attended John Marshall High School where he befriended William Adams (stage name will.i.am), the nephew of Hudgens' roommate. Apl.de.ap's early musical influences were Stevie Wonder, The Eagles, The Beatles, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul,Leaders of the New School and the popular Filipino rock/folk group, Asin. Apl was introduced to hip-hop by break dancing. "I would take thejeepney all the way to Angeles City, and that's how I got introduced to break dancing," he said. "I would see kids at the corner break-dancing and I'm like, 'I wanna do that.'"

             He revealed to People Magazine in 2011 that he is legally blind in both of his eyes, suffering from nystagmus and has this condition his entire career. "I'm good at shapes. If I'm not close, even if it's big, I can't read it. I doubted myself for a long time," apl.de.ap said. "I'm comfortable not using my vision. I weave around my problems." He went on to say in the same article that "Until I discovered hip-hop, I felt I wasn't going to accomplish anything."

              Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco (born May 10, 1992), is a Filipino recording artist who rose to popularity through YouTube. Dubbed by Oprah Winfrey as the Most Talented Girl in the World, she is the first and only Asian singer in history to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 album chart.

Crossing over to television acting, she has appeared on the second season of the hit TV series Glee as Sunshine Corazon. Charice is currently working on her sophomore studio album.

Early Life

         Pempengco was born in Laguna, Philippines. Raised by a single mother, she helped support the family by joining amateur singing contests at age seven, from town fiestas in various provinces to singing competitions on TV. She is said to have joined almost a hundred singing contests.

             In 2005, Charice joined Little Big Star, a talent show in the Philippines loosely patterned after American Idol. Eliminated after her first performance, she was later called back as a wildcard contender and eventually became one of the finalists. Although she was a consistent top scorer in the final rounds, she wasn't able to win the title in the finale and only placed third.

             Charice made minor appearances on local television shows and commercials, but essentially had fallen off the radar after her stint at Little Big Star. It was not until 2007 that she gained worldwide recognition after an avid supporter under the username FalseVoice, started posting a series of her performance videos on You Tube. These video received over 13 million hits.

FILIPINO PROUD - Maria Aragon

Maria Aragon or Maria Lourdes Aragon (born July 17, 2000) is a Canadian Youtuber, from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was born and raised in Canada to Filipino parents.



In February 2011, she posted a video on her sister's YouTube channel in which she performed a cover of "Born This Way" by " Lady Gaga. A tweet from Lady Gaga on the video was sent to her eight million followers, and launched Maria to instant, international fame. The video garne over10 million views on YouTube in just five days. In just 6 days, her video, "Born This Way" on YouTube had reached up to 12 million views.

American talk show host Ellen Degeneres took notice of her talent from Lady Gaga's tweet and invited Maria to appear on her show on February 21, 2011. She performed "Born This Way" on the piano while singing on the show. Her parents were part of the audience and as seen in the video that recorded the show, they cried in joy as they saw their own daughter's talent. Before the show on an interview with HOT-103 FM, Maria Aragon spoke with Gaga, and was invited to perform "Born This Way" with her at THE MONSTER BALL TOUR concert in Toronto in March. Maria Aragon confirmed she was invited to sing with her on Ellen.

Aragon is a fifth-grade student at the Isaac Brock School in Winnipeg, Canada. She lives with her brother, two sisters and her parents.
